GridNow is a community space for Second Life residents to share news, events, and creative work. To keep it welcoming for everyone, all users must follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or a permanent ban.
1. Be Respectful
Treat everyone with courtesy — other residents, creators, event organizers, and GridNow staff. Disagreement is fine; personal attacks, insults, and harassment are not. This applies to post content, event descriptions, and any other text you submit.
2. No Hate Speech or Discrimination
Content that demeans or targets people based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic is not allowed. This includes both explicit slurs and "coded" language intended to demean.
3. No Spam or Unsolicited Promotion
Do not submit duplicate posts, flood the feed with low-effort content, or use GridNow solely as an advertising board. One post per topic per day is a good rule of thumb. Affiliate links, referral codes, and heavily promotional copy without editorial content will be removed.
4. Post Accurate Information
Do not knowingly publish false information, misinformation, or deliberately misleading content about Second Life, its residents, Linden Lab, or third parties. If you are unsure of a fact, say so.
5. Respect Copyright and Intellectual Property
Only post content you created or have the right to share. Do not reproduce entire blog posts, screenshots, or images belonging to others without permission. Brief quotes with attribution are acceptable. SL content creators retain copyright to their work.
6. Adult and Mature Content
GridNow follows Second Life's maturity rating system. Content rated Adult must be tagged accordingly when submitting events or posts. Adult content is never shown to logged-out guests or accounts that have opted out of adult content. Content depicting non-consensual acts or involving minors (real or depicted) is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate permanent ban.
7. Real-Life Privacy
Do not share another person's real-life identity, contact details, location, or personal information without their explicit consent ("doxxing"). This includes inferring or speculating about someone's real identity based on their avatar or online activity.
8. No Illegal Content
Content that violates applicable laws — including but not limited to copyright infringement, fraud, threats, and the distribution of malware or exploit scripts — is prohibited.
9. Event Listings Must Be Accurate
Event details (title, time, SLURL, description, maturity rating) must accurately describe the event. Bait-and-switch listings, events that never take place, and listings used purely for promotion without a real event will be removed and may lead to account suspension.
10. Reporting Violations
Use the ··· menu on any post or event to report content that violates these guidelines. Reports are reviewed by GridNow moderators. Abuse of the report system to harass other users is itself a violation.
Enforcement
GridNow moderators may remove content, issue warnings, temporarily suspend accounts, or permanently ban users at their discretion. We aim to be consistent and fair, but the safety of the community always takes priority. Serious violations (hate speech, illegal content, doxxing) result in an immediate permanent ban with no appeal.
Changes to These Guidelines
These guidelines may be updated as the platform grows. Continued use of GridNow after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised guidelines. The date at the bottom of this page reflects the last update.
